USB Flashcard

A USB flash card is a memory medium which can be connected to the computer via a USB connector in order to exchange data. The USB flash card differs from other current memory cards for example the ones used in mobile phones or digital cameras through this USB interface (USB: Universal Serial Bus, a connection which contrary to many others in the running operation of the compunter can be connected and disconnected without having to reboot the computer).

A different model is the USB flash card MP3 Player. In the meantime, well-established models for this are not even larger than a normal credit card and have 2 gigabytes and more memory capacity. Music can be easily transferred to the player from the computer via USB and can be listened to in the formats Mp3 and WMA using earphones.

In the meantime, there are also so-called USB flash card readers. These make sticking current flash cards into the slot of the reader and then conveniently connecting this reader to any chosen computer via USB possible. The advantage: most computers do not have suitable slots for flash cards, for instance to transfer data from a digital camera to the PC. With the help of the USB flash card Reader you so to speak have a USB stick with an exchangeable memory in the form of the memory cards. These readers are also available in a larger format with a large model of various slots for different flash cards.

The market for USB flash cards showed extreme growth in the year 2007. Experts estimate that more than 100 million pieces of these were sold.
